A friend of mine, Chris McBride, Street-luge legend from Seattle, travelling from Seattle to Whistler for the IDF world cup race. As long as I’ve known him, he has owned this car. And I’ve known him for quite a few years lol.
Keep in mind he is probably around 230/240lbs, travelling with another luger. That’s dedication :)

I think he needs a little trailer.

He does but then the car would not be fun anymore
#priorities :)

That is inspirational.

Idk, I doubt the car is very fun with all of that weight on the back and up high like that anyways. I know when I drive with my trunk full and a giant suitcase on my luggage rack, my Miata becomes a lot less nimble.

Still better than a trailer trust me :)
Those wobbly things are a pain in the ass really

Does this guy not have a luggage rack and is using a bike rack? Haha and I thought I was crazy with what I put on my car.

The Sea to Sky Highway is a beautiful drive. I bet it’s even better in a Miata with all the twisties.

We used to tow one of those Reese Backpacker clam-shell trailers behind our first miata (93, black and tan leather package car with gold stripes) for out of town autocross events back around 2000ish. With slightly taller tires and the bearings packed with synthetic grease, that thing towed like a champ with the cruise set at 80+ MPH. The key is weight distribution. If you don’t have at least 10-15% tongue weight, any trailer will be squirmy as hell. A small clam-shell trailer and the hard top in place is the only way to comfortably take a trip in miata and bring anything with you. I think Harbor Freight now sells the same trailer.
For $379 (plus a trip to the MVD to title and tag it), it is a utility multiplier for the small sports car owner who hasn’t yet grown up to trailering their car to the track.

My reasons not to buy a Miata keep diminishing.... That’s quite the contraption he’s got going there!

I think he bought it new at the time...
